Elohey

A Ghost of a Chance, Part I

It has been said that it all began with a simple band of heroes. Heroes who chose to side with an orcish warrior, instead of a thief.

A thief who called himself ‘king’.

Once upon a time in Elohey the wizard Gringlebrush, in an attempt to make a safe enchanted ‘waystation’ for travelers, asked his longtime friend, Elias Kyle, to gather a specific ingredient: fire wyrm moss. This moss grows in abundance near the town of Ravenmoor, south of Morodar. Elias left straightaway, yet, he never returned.

Concerned, Gringlebrush engaged a group of heroes to locate the lost courier and procure a few bags of the moss. Despite the recent troubles along the southern roads with Orc raiders and an insane druid, the heroes found the small town of Ravenmoor. There, they also found something evil had rooted itself into the forest and begun to prey upon the farmers living there.

Determined to find the courier and rescue the town from what mysterious force threatened to consume it, the heroes readily began their search. Hints as to the courier’s fate started to emerge, but so had the attacks from misshapen creatures from the forest! This culminated in a night raid by men dressed in burlap cloth and wicker stirge-masks which were beaten back into the darkness.

Now the heroes wake to a new day … and the result of the attacks from the night before …

Adventures in Ravenmoor

It has been said that it all began with a simple band of heroes. Heroes who chose to side with an orcish warrior, instead of a thief.

A thief who called himself ‘king’.

Once upon a time in the town of Ravenmoor, after a long night dealing with mysterious figures made of wicker, our heroes woke to find no one remembered the attack! No one that is except for themselves, Doriv Carmiscu the town miller, her daughter Adele, and the farmer Viorec Korzha. Stirge masks were recovered, as well as curved blades coated in a lethal poison!

Later that morning, the heroes discovered a strange scarecrow in the back of the ruined temple to Rea the Lightgiver at the edge of town. The scarecrow may have been blessed, but it also sat atop a strange animated black cloak that shunned sunlight. A black cloak stabbed through with a dagger! They kept the dagger, but the cloak did not survive the encounter with the heroes.

Collecting the rusted weapons and other items from the night before, the heroes set out to see the town alchemist – despite his being incarcerated – to look for a curative to the Wicker Men poison. Having that, they would then set their sights to track down young Shel Lupescu, who had left early that morning to gather fire wyrm moss. It seemed innocent enough, but between the mysterious attack, the mass amnesia of the townspeople, and other unsettling clues … our heroes worried something dire had befallen the young dwarven girl. Particularly once she reached the part of Ravenmoor near the Old Chenowitz farmhouse that was said to be haunted …

Adventures in Ravenmoor

A thief who called himself ‘king’.

Once upon a time in Elohey, a group of heroes challenged the evil of a lich that had a town under his spell. Using their wits, they coerced him away from his manor home and place of sanctuary and to the ruined temple of the sun goddess.

Once there, they confronted him. He managed to leave the ruin, but not before his “brothers” were exposed as Faceless Stalkers! The heroes dispatched the evil shadow creatures, and then finally the lich himself.

However, when the dust settled they found the spell was still in place and the town still under the lich’s fell curse.

They resolved to lift this, recover the missing Shel Lupescu, and find the long lost missing courier Elias Kyle …

When the heroes get to the heart of the problem in Ravenmoor

It has been said that it all began with a simple band of heroes. Heroes who chose to side with an orcish warrior, instead of a thief.

A thief who called himself ‘king’.

Once upon a time in Elohey … a group of heroes defeated the lich, Kriegler, that had control of the town of Ravenmoor. However, on defeating him, the curse on the town remained. Worse yet, Elias Kyle, the young courier they were sent to find, remained missing. Only now the blacksmith’s daughter, Shel Lupescu, was among the missing as well.

There was only one place left they could be, the Old Chenowitz Place that was rumored to be haunted.

The group discovered that the old farmstead was not haunted, but was inside an ancient Fae ring! Undaunted, they ventured into Underhill to recover the missing people. Inside, they uncovered the signs of a cult devoted to the Prince of Madness, the god Malcurious and the victims to the fell power buried in the basement. However, the only sign of the missing was a single severed finger that gently glowed.

On leaving the farmhouse, the group looked to the old barn and the corn maze that swayed to an invisible breeze. It was where the evil felt strongest, and the only place left the missing people could be …

Darkwood's Terror
Once upon a time, northeast beyond the Longgrass Plains …

It has been said that it all began with a simple band of heroes. Heroes who chose to side with an orcish warrior, instead of a thief.

A thief who called himself ‘king’.

Once upon a time, northeast beyond the Longgrass Plains where the unicorn herds run, lies the great Dwarven city of Morodar. There, every spring, a small community of elves in Morodar celebrate the Festival of the Mists in the nearby forest of Darkwood. This spring festival celebrates rebirth, renewal, and hope for the new year.

However, a shadow has fallen across the Darkwood. A creeping darkness that spreads slowly, corrupting all it touches. Falcon’s Rangers talk of twisted creatures that prey upon the unwary, or the unprepared.

Undaunted, the elves celebrate in the forest again this year. Only, this time, they wisely brought a band of heroes…

Once upon a time, South of Morodar ...

It has been said that it all began with a simple band of heroes. Heroes who chose to side with an orcish warrior, instead of a thief.

A thief who called himself ‘king’.

Once upon a time, South of Morodar…

In the Longgrass Plains along the Warden Road, lies the free city of Aquitaine. There, every mid-summer, Aquitaine holds a celebration to the city’s patron deity, Rhea the Lightgiver. This festival honors her and her good works with song, dance, feasting and a releasing of butterflies – which are considered the Children of Rhea and the namesake of the festival: The Swallowtail Festival.

However, in this particular year, Aquitaine celebrates much more. This year they celebrate the newly rebuilt cathedral that had been burned to the ground five years ago. An event of this kind drew in many visitors. From the north, dwarves from Morodar. From the southeast, Easterling humans from Lakefell. Even elves and orcs from Gild’mar and Dublinshire were in attendance.

But the roads are not safe, and so armed escorts were a must. From Morodar, Gram Brickspittle of the Tradewarden Alliance guild was to attend the festival, but the guild couldn’t spare any mercenaries for the trip.

However, Gram knew of an alternative … a group of skilled heroes he had worked with once before and would not fear the kobold raiders stalking the Warden Road…

Local Heroes

It has been said that it all began with a simple band of heroes. Heroes who chose to side with an orcish warrior, instead of a thief.

Once upon a time, South of Morodar …

After a quiet night, the morning came to the Longgrass plains. The city of Aquitaine woke to view the aftermath, and find a way to rebuild. With a fresh vigor, repairs were started, debris removed, and the few loved ones lost in the attack are quietly mourned.

At first light of dawn, the cathedral is consecrated. The ceremony was subdued, and held indoors under the careful eye of Sheriff Hemlock and his guard.

Already images from the day before begin to slowly change. Instead of the horror, citizens begin to focus on a way forward. Memories of kobolds getting their heads stuck in soup pots and aprons, or running in fear from a falling avalanche of bread from the bakery are met with chuckles. Life continues.

However, there is one thing that remains clear in Aquitaine’s mind: their new heroes.

Tribal Matters

Once upon a time, South of Morodar in the ancient city of Aquitaine …

Another day has passed since the kobold attack. In the light of a bright new day, the citizens rebuild and the Swallowtail Festival begins anew. Brightly colored tents are lifted once more at dawn, and the smell of fresh baked goods and treats start to fill the air.

But for the heroes of Aquitaine, the day is nothing but ordinary. News from a local Falconer, Shalelu, warns that the Five Kobold tribes have been raiding all along the Warden Road, sparing no one. She needs help tracking down who might have united the Five Tribes under one banner. Perhaps the captive Kobold warchanter, one of the Kobold tribal champions, or the mysterious bugbear ranger, Bruthazmus would know.

Meanwhile, the original question remains … just who brought the Kobolds into Aquitaine, and why did they steal the consecrated skeletal remains of a beloved priest?

Dark Dealings

A thief who called himself ‘king’.

Once upon a time, South of Morodar in the ancient city of Aquitaine …

The heroes of Aquitaine, after surviving an attack by a kobold warband, reached the kobold Birdcruncher tribe in the hills of the Devil’s Platter.

Stern negotiation led to understanding, but not an alliance. That is until a pack of bugbears with necromantic runes on their foreheads charged the Birdcrunchers, and the heroes!

To the north, in the storm drains under Aquitaine, Aedilred Runecutter leads his band of halflings in search of how the kobolds originally entered the city. But the storm drain is older than Aquitaine itself, and keeps its own secrets close.

Meanwhile, to the south a lone human-sized figure in a black cloak crosses the Nettlemarsh alone. The solitary traveler leaves no tracks, no trace, and drifts among the scrub grass like an ill wind. His destination is the towering ruins of Thistlewood Keep that sit across the lake from the gleaming stones of Aquitaine.
